CAT (Combine Athletic Testing) is a standardized athletic assessment used by performance centers, clubs, and college recruiters to evaluate raw athletic potential. It includes 9 tests and generates a single CAT Score that is adjusted for age and stature.
Adjusted for age and stature so results are comparable across athletes.
Measures strength, speed, agility, and explosiveness.
Used by schools, performance centers, and scouts nationwide.
The CAT Score was developed through decades of kinesiology and exercise science research. At its core is the Motor Performance Study from Michigan State University — a landmark, long-term study that followed over 1,200 youth to explore how physical growth and motor skill development relate to athletic potential.
Building on those findings and additional university-level research, CAT created a 9-test protocol designed to assess critical attributes of athleticism — including speed, power, balance, coordination, and more. Each test is selected with purpose and scored with adjustments for age and stature, ensuring fair comparisons across athletes of all sports and body types.
The same analytics engine trusted by collegiate and professional programs.
Every CAT Score is backed by a proprietary model developed by Matrix Analytical Solutions — an industry leader in off field analytics.
Using advanced statistical modeling, Matrix fairly adjusts each score for age and stature while preserving the athlete’s true physical output.
Their systems have been used across NCAA conferences and pro development programs to identify talent, predict potential, and guide decisions.
